Product applications

Chairs, tables, beds, sofas and cabinets – fence furniture is used daily in homes, workplaces and public buildings. We present an enclosure furniture set consisting of four chairs and a table made of wood and various other materials in this issue.

Raw material requirements

Wood is the basic material that cannot be heated. Different types of wood are used, but the most common are walnut, sandalwood, teak, cedar, mango, rhododendron, bubur, ebony, mahogany, rosewood and sal. Teak represents 50% of the wooden furniture. Various products are used: glue, nails and finishing materials such as stains, primers, varnishes and enamels.

Manufacturing Process

Furniture manufacturing requires careful selection of good quality wood and proper use of the wood pieces by the craftsman. The carving and inlaying are called marquetry and is done by hand. The body of the piece must be made to check the construction and cutting. A cutting list is made, prices are calculated for various items such as consumables, fittings and ends, and processing time and appointments are estimated.

The following table shows the amount of lumber that goes through the kiln and is converted to a single thickness.

  • The lumber arrives at the machine shop, where it is sawn to a certain size, planed, shaped, grooved and chamfered as needed.
  • Suppose any pieces need to be accurately reduced. In that case, they can be clamped with a regular profile sight, inserted into a high-speed rotating tool, and then shaped to the available information and shape with a shaper or automatic milling machine to get the correct dimensions.
  • More complex sculptures, such as legs, are roughly carved on a multi-axis carving machine. This machine replicates the foothold with a level guided along the model’s floor, allowing up to 32 high-speed rotating tools to make the same motion to cut the blank foot.
  • After complex engraving, the part is polished on the machine and finished with a hand carving.
  • On computerized machines, the parts of the operation are usually mixed. Uncoated areas are polished with a side belt sander, triple drum sander or belt sander. Rounded areas are sanded on pneumatic drums and carved areas on buffers, machines in which a brush on a rotating wheel supports crushed sandpaper.
  • Finally, the work is transferred to a conference warehouse where the door frames are assembled, the drawers glued, and the cabinets mounted. Once the glue has been set, the parts can be sent back to the machine department for further processing, such as sanding the joints and shaping the circumference, which was not done before the conference.
  • It is then returned to the conference department for the final session. Pneumatic fixtures are used when the design allows, otherwise the parts are pressed into manual fixtures. Finally, the painting is completed, and the fittings are attached.
