Description

You can check out the interlocking bricks project report here before setting up your new business. It may change your fortune. There are several materials used in constructing buildings. When we talk about their application in wall elements, then interlocking bricks are the most popular. These cement blocks are made from cement and sand mixed with mortar that is heavy and adds self-weight to the building or structure. The self-weight of the building comprises a significant portion of the design load. Thus, you can reduce the weight of the blocks so that the weight of the building can be reduced. It will help in reducing the size of structural members and would put a difference in the use of other materials as well.

Project Report of Interlocking Blocks Manufacturing is available for immediate download here. The objective of the Project Report on Interlocking Blocks Manufacturing is to provide information to the potential entrepreneur. This Interlocking Blocks Manufacturing project report is a sample project report. These reports help prepare the project report as per the objectives. Interlocking Bricks Project Report

Making bricks or blocks is an excellent alternative in the present time for any individual who wants any business. Assuming you need to begin an independent company, then this business will be appropriate for you. You can start this business for a minimal price and with restricted space. Prior, just earth blocks were stylish here, yet today, concrete blocks came smart with expanding time, and presently their utilization has likewise expanded.

The shape of this kind of block is modular and rectangular (250 mm in length, 210 mm wide, and125 mm high), and a proper T-junction or right-angle corner is required to maintain by block. The block is different from conventional blocks or bricks since the laying work does not need mortar. Also, building walls and other structures are faster due to this characteristic as the blocks are dried up and closed in. Almost any building type can be built with blocks with spanning and depression at each other’s key.

The toe blocks on the base have a flat base and are partly planned to lay correctly on the base mortar while receiving the centre blocks. The middle blocks are depressed at the bottom and are projected to receive the middle blocks and eventually the top. To ensure that the blocks fit precisely next to each other before placing or forming the first course in a mortar bed, the main design constraints are that the plan should be rectangular, and every wall size and opening should be multiple lengths of the type of the block. The blocks should be placed on the base around the whole building.

Interlocking Bricks Principles

  • The blocks are made up of protruding pieces that fit into recessed sections exactly on the adjacent sides and blocks above. They are horizontally and vertically aligned automatically so that the assembly of the block is achievable without specialist block-laying skills.
  • Since the blocks may be dried, no mortar is needed, and a significant amount of cement and labour costs is saved.
  • Vertical holes that fulfil four purposes could necessarily be provided to each block –

(i) to minimise block weight and to insert steel reinforcement rods or bars.

(ii) Acting as an electric and water/fluid piping conduit

(iii) Put liquid mortar into the holes that run through the wall’s entire height. Therefore the screening of the wall and the construction of a permanent solid wall, otherwise their strength may increase, without vertical gaps, to solid blocks.

Types of Interlocking Bricks

You will find several types of interlocking bricks depending upon their composition, shape and size. It also depends on their strength and uses.

Soil Cement blocks

These bricks depend on the composition of cement and soil. This soil to cement composition is usually 1 to 6.

Rice Husk Ash Cement Blocks

The ratio of cement to RHA is 1:4. falls under this type. You can get two types of bricks in this category. White blocks and concrete blocks.

Interlocking Bricks Shape and Size

  • Several interlocking blocks, varied in shape and size, were produced in the last year depending on the strengths and applications required. The created system has the following forms:
  • Full blocks measurement (300 x 125 – 150 x 100 mm) for all standard walls (single or double block thick).
  • Half blocks (150 x 125 – 150 x 100 mm) are moulded to resize or prepared by cutting freshly moulded full blocks in half.
  • Channel blocks are similar in size to full and half blocks, on the other hand, a long axis of channel reinforcing steel and concrete can be placed to form lintels or ring beams.
  • The vertical grout holes are square or round in shape, with the vertical sides of the blocks being flat or having recesses.
  • Electrical switch housing and conduits, as well as water piping outlets, are incorporated.
  • For window sills, special blocks were prepared.

What is Interlocking Brick made of?

The block structure depends on the availability and utilisation of materials. The main components of the block are as follows:

  • Cement: Cement has the property of mixing with water and solidifying it. Cement is widely used in structural design and variation companies, and Portland cement is the most widely used type of cement. It is a basic element of concrete, block, mortar, or plaster. Cement consists of calcium silicon and aluminium oxide mixture. The portland cement is made from calcium heating (a calcium source) with clay and molten using a sulphate source called gypsum (the most frequently known clinker).
  • Water: Water interacts with cement and aggregates to start the hydration process, and a sufficient water-cement ratio ensures good consistency. The cement paste collects the aggregate, fills the spaces and makes it easier to flow. The application of clean, pure water is usually advisable to prevent detrimental effects of salt, turbidity and other pollutants in block manufacture. Impure water used to make the block may be difficult to set or cause premature failure of interlocking blocking walls.
  • Aggregates: The bulk of the interlocking block mixture consists of fine and coarse aggregates. Different types of soil and properties have been explained above. It can occur in industries naturally or artificially (uncrushed or crushed). The size of the aggregate affects the strength and load capacity of the interlocking block.

Process of Manufacturing Interlocking Bricks

The manufacturing process of interlocking bricks involves the following steps:

  • Proportioning
  • Mixing
  • Compacting
  • Curing
  • Drying

The process of manufacturing is systematic and straightforward. The items cement, sand and stone chips are mixed in the correct ratio of 1:2:4 by volume and then mixed in water and churned thoroughly in a concrete mixture to prepare blocks.

All the raw materials are placed in the concrete mixer, water is added and then rotated for 15-20 minutes, and then the mixture is discharged onto the moulds. During the pouring process, care is taken, and vibrators are used to ensure that it sets well and is compact. There is no porosity. Now the blocks are moulded after compacting and allowed to dry for 24 hours away from direct sun heat.

The blocks so hardened are healed with water so that cement can be hydrated or placed for 20 days. After every three days, the water in the curing tank is changed. Now, after being cured step, the blocks are dry in shades before usage so that the initial shrinkage of the blocks is complete. The time required is 15 days, and the production capacity is 1200tons of blocks per year in a single shift for 300 days.

NOTE: This is the estimated, calculated cost, but during setup, the cost may be increased somewhere.

Interlocking Bricks Advantages

The following are the advantages of interlocking Block are:

  • Construction using the interlocking block saves time and an adequate amount of mortar concrete compared to traditional masonry blocks laid with mortar.
  • Areas susceptible to earthquakes employ a hollow interlocking block with strength improved across the height of the wall to be able to resist the influence of an earthquake and so provide appropriate structural stability to combat collapse.
  • After forming the basic course, the unqualified worker is used to construct another course.
  • Block removal does not incur considerable damage in a temporary structure as in the case of blocks with mortar.
  • Cost of construction is fairly less.
  • No plasterwork is required.
  • Provides cooler interior.

Disadvantages of Interlocking Bricks

These are the following disadvantages of interlocking bricks:

  • Rainwater may be a hostage for insects and other unwanted activity in the systems.
  • Because of weather effects, the bricks might also be disintegrated, especially at the corners.
  • The colour of the brick changes when rainwater passes through the gaps.
  • These bricks are not sufficient to hold all the forces on the construction.
  • These bricks are not suited for construction with more than two-story buildings.

Interlocking Bricks Business Plan and Marketing

It is not as simple a business as anyone thinks. The dynamics of this are complicated, and without proper connections and market contacts, you cannot work in this business. Therefore, people in this business follow their family business or work in the construction sector either directly or through their friends. Generally, in this business, you sell with the help of your contractor, who orders bricks per need from his contact. This is a teamwork business that supplies construction-related materials like soil, equipment, sand, cement, trolleys, bricks, etc. it means your target market is contractors, not the customers.

It is advisable to first work in this type of industry to build your network in the market and then switch into this business because good networking gives you regular demand for bricks, and you can earn pretty handsome profits. Along with paver block manufacturing, good opportunities are available for manufacturing fly ash bricks and CLC blocks.
